This smoked salmon avocado toast is a power toast. This toast fills you up so much. It is great for breakfast if you know that you will have a busy day and may have to eat lunch a bit later than usual. It will hold you over I promise!

I absolutely love making this for breakfast or brunch. Several years ago, avocados toast were all over the internet but this particular one is something that I still eat once a week if not more! In fact, it is the one breakfast I will always want to have! Let’s not forget how healthy it is! Bonus points right there!

What’s in the toast

This toast is all about quality bread, a nice layer of cream cheese, mashed avocados, and smoked salmon on top.

I absolutely love this combination, and hope you will enjoy it as much as i do!

Ingredients for Smoked Salmon Avocado Toast

  • 1-2 Avocados
  • 1 tsp guacamole herb & spice blend (optional)
  • 2-3 pinches of salt (add more or less for desired taste)
  • 1/2 fresh lemon ( one squeeze)
  • softened butter
  • two slices of bread (recommend white french country bread)
  • cream cheese
  • smoked salmon
  • “everything bagel seasoning”

How to make toast

  1. Let’s start with the avocado mash. I like to start with a separate bowl, cut open my avocado(s), scoop out, and mash. Next, I like to add my guacamole herb and spice blend. I add about 1 tsp maybe more depends on how much flavor I want. I then add salt (don’t forget the salt), and squeeze fresh lemon juice. Yess please squeeze that fresh lemon juice.
  2. Mix to combine
  3. Grab your two slices of bread, and generally spread softened butter just on one side. Toast in a skillet (highly recommend toasting the bread in a skillet versus a toaster. It does have a difference.
  4. Toast the bread for a couple of minutes on each side until nice and toasty.
  5. Grab a plate, and add the two slices of bread, and spread whipped cream cheese. Generously spread it all over the bread.
  6. Next, add the mashed avocados. Spread it all out on the toasted bread.
  7. Add smoked salmon. I like to buy my smoked salmon from either ‘Trader Joe’s’ or ‘Costco’. Those are the two stores that I have tried smoked salmon and really love the flavor! I’ve tried varieties from both stores and never been disappointed.
  8. Sprinkle “everything bagel seasoning” on top.
  9. Serve immediately.

Don’t forget to add salt & Lemon juice

Okay, this step is huge. Adding salt to the mashed avocados as well as freshly squeezed lemon juice is absolutely a game-changer. It adds so much flavor and makes it taste so much better than plain avocado.

Quality Bread

Please do not cheap out on your bread or use that basic white bread. In order to make the best avocado toast starting with what bread you use is absolutely everything. I recommend buying bread from whole foods, or fresh from a bakery (homemade is even better!!). The bread I use most of the time is the baked white country bread from Costco. That bread is honestly the best for any type of toast and this one in particular.

A few suggestions to perfection –

  1. Always use quality bread. this makes a huge difference!
  2. Don’t forget to use fresh lemon juice and salt!
  3. I like to cut open avocados that are pretty soft on the outside. It is easier to mash them versus a harder avocado.
  4. If you have guacamole on hand you may use that to save time or if you are in a hurry. It of course will not taste as great as fresh avocados but it works too!
  5. Toast the bread on a skillet with butter! A warm crunchy toast is what makes up this whole toast!
  6. Quality ingredients, and preparing recipes PROPERLY is key to making everything taste delicious!
